A new Image Display Technolgy is described in an article on the BBC’s Technology web page.
Scientists at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology have demonstrated the use of a flexible light conductor to steer light through a tiny diffraction grating very accurately. As a result they can, reproduce any colour present in a pure white light source, a feat that eludes all existing image reproduction technologies which rely on fixed reference colours (normally Red Green and Blue).
A proof of concept has been shown but it may be some years before a full display is available. Nonetheless this marks an exciting development for anyone working with colour images.
