Fiber Optic Termination – Nice article

After chatting to a colleague today about the problems of joining fibre optic in an installation,  I came across a short but useful article about fibre optic termination.

Whilst fibre is a fabulous method of passing data from one place to the next, it is no simple matter to connect two fibres together. Not usually a problem for most people but for an installation with long runs between floors, or in a specialist set up – like a film grading SAN room – there are a occasions where connecting two fibres together is a necessity.

For a good primer on the subject its worth reading Tech Optics‘ article:

EU backs standard for mobile TV

“…European officials have backed a single standard for the rollout of mobile TV services across Europe…”

BBC NEWS | Technology | EU backs standard for mobile TV

Have yet to read the details but on the surface this is good news; the plethora of different standards does not help anyone in the long term.
