Review of LCD Studio Reference Monitors

Display Daily » Blog Archive » LCD Studio Reference Monitors

Interesting review of some of the LCD Studio Reference Monitors shown in January at the SMPTE meeting in New York.

IBC 2007 is going to be interesting in this area. We should be getting close to some serious monitors for grading use.

I’ve been asked to do a little stand duty for one contender (details to be revealed later). Not sure how much fun working a stand is going to be, but it is a chance to look at the exhibition from a very different perspective.

ACE Blog & workflows…

Just come across the ACE blog. The post that attracted my attention is concerned with workflow on Iron Man.

With the arrival of DI and all electronic productions we are in a great state of flux with developing effective workflows for productions.

The almost daily introduction of new technologies threatens to require a new workflow for every production, with all the attendant risk of errors and associated stress of checking every possible parameter over and over (and over) again, knowing that in fact there are too many variables to be absolutly certain that all bases have been covered from the outset. Is it a bad thing? Perhaps not; it is much like the trial and error involved in the very early days of film making, albeit with a more rapid turnaround.

However, Iteration is the Mother of Perfection!

A most welcome email

Just had an email from a client for whom I’d done some training:

Hi Hugh ….

I have just opened all the evaluations for your class and I just wanted to let you know how glowing they are.

The trainees loved you, and really enjoyed the day.

There were quite a few “Hugh is great!” scrawled across the pages.  They felt you really put the information across in an interesting and accessible way.

So thanks very much Hugh, and well done.

What a great email to recieve on such a bright sunny day. I can tell you it’s gone straight to my head and I can’t stop smiling!
